Learner Spotlight

In our ongoing journey to recognize and appreciate the achievements of our learners, the Learner Spotlight will highlight individuals who have demonstrated dedication, passion, and growth in learning. We believe that every learner has a unique story and journey, and by shining a spotlight on their achievements, we hope to inspire and motivate others.

The selected learners will be featured in our newsletters, social media platforms, and on our website (below), sharing their story and insights. Recommendations can come from any source, including you. We are looking for people who have demonstrated:

  • Dedication to Learning: Individuals who have shown commitment and perseverance in their learning journey.
  • Impact: Learners who have made a positive impact on the community or achieved noteworthy results.
  • Passion: Those who display a genuine passion for continuous learning and personal growth.

Anyone can nominate any learner who has completed a course or certification within the last year. Each person can submit one nominee per month. The Learning Spotlight Committee will choose one person per month from the nominations to be in the Learner Spotlight.

Where do you currently work, what is your role, and how long have you been in the industry?

I currently work at Mediacom in the maintenance department focusing on main line troubleshooting and repair covering the Mid Missouri area. I have been with Mediacom for almost 7 years, the last 2 being the maintenance department. Before transferring to the maintenance department, I was a service technician doing inhouse trouble calls.

How did you first become involved in SCTE training?

My first experience with SCTE was when I transferred to the maintenance department, as the service department focused on NCTI course.

How has the SCTE training helped you in your job and career?

The SCTE courses are an amazing resource of knowledge to my career. As a hands on learner, being able to see things done correctly in the network sims on the courses instead of just reading a book has helped me learn and set my self apart from my peers becoming one of the go-to employees.
