Understanding TDRs in Coaxial Cable
Presenting by Chuck Phillips from Springbok Instruments

Time Domain Reflectometers have been around for many years and remain the fastest, most accurate way to pinpoint cabling problems.
A Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) is a device used to detect the location of faults in transmission lines and coaxial cables.
The TDR sends a low voltage pulsed signal through the transmission line and checks for any reflections seen due to impedance mismatches.
Chuck Phillips began his Telecommunications career 25-years ago with Riser-Bond Instruments. Four years ago, he joined Springbok Instruments.
Though TDRs can be used in numerous copper cable applications, he specializes in the Telecom, CATV, Power and Mining and is considered an industry leader in “Fault Finding.”
