CUSTOMER PREMISE

SCTE Broadband Premise Installer
The SCTE Broadband Premises Installer (BPI) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities of an entry-level individual who will install cable telecommunications services (video,
voice, and (DOCSIS®, PON, Wi-Fi)) at the customer’s premises. Successful candidates have the knowledge to carry out a premises installation but are not yet proficient.

Broadband Premises Technician
The Broadband Premises Technician (BPT) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities of an experienced field technician who will install and troubleshoot complex cable telecommunications services (video, voice, and (DOCSIS®, PON, Wi-Fi)) at the customer’s premises. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of technologies deployed in modern intercommunications networks to troubleshoot and install advanced configurations.

Broadband Fiber Installer
The Broadband Fiber Installer (BFI) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities of a field technician who performs installation of telecommunications services (video, voice, and data) delivered via fiber optics to the customer’s premises (FTTH). Successful candidates have the knowledge to install and service fiber to the premises applications.

Business Class Services Specialist
The Business Class Services Specialist (BCSS) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities of an experienced technician who will perform business level installations for small to medium business class customers. Successful candidates have the knowledge to troubleshoot as required to restore the customer’s business and Ethernet services.
OUTSIDE PLANT

Construction Engineering Professional
The Construction Engineering Professional (CEP) certification describes knowledge, skills and abilities an individual possesses to build future access network designs. A CEP will have expertise in coaxial and fiber construction techniques, make ready, right-of-way, project design, and construction engineering.

Broadband Distribution Specialist
The Broadband Distribution Specialist (BDS) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities in the RF distribution of signals over the access network, including all aspects of the access network or outside plant from the node, amplifier, and out to the distribution tap.

Broadband Fiber Transport Specialist
The Broadband Fiber Transport Specialist (BFTS) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities in the transport, testing, troubleshooting, and construction of optical signals, including aspects of the cable telecommunication fiber network from the transport facility and from the facility to the node using multiple architectures.

Broadband TelecomCenter Specialist
The Broadband TelecomCenter Specialist (BTCS) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities in maintenance and troubleshooting of inside plant facilities to ensure minimal system outages, maximum reliability, and standards compliance for optimal operations. This certification includes knowledge of video, data, and voice networks within the facility.

Digital Video Engineering Professional
The Digital Video Engineering Professional (DVEP) Certification describes the knowledge, skills and abilities in the engineering aspects of digital media (which includes video, audio, interactive services, and associated data) systems as deployed in the cable telecommunications industry. The scope of this certification includes the design, analysis, testing, integration, deployment considerations, and troubleshooting of a variety of digital media systems from facility to customer premises.
