Though these courses are not specific to the Business Class Technician Learning Journey, it is imperative to have the necessary comprehension or experience before beginning the journey. If you do not have the knowledge, it is recommended that you complete the courses listed below.
RF System Theory
This interactive course is designed to ensure learners record proper RF signal levels and verify RF quality within the various upstream and downstream portions of the cable network. (estimated duration: 12 hours)
Return Path
The Return Path course focuses on design, set-up and troubleshooting of the reverse system in cable networks. (estimated duration: 24 hours)
Broadband Wireless Specialist (BWS) Curriculum
The Broadband Wireless Specialist (BWS) Curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of wireless networks in homes and small businesses. (estimated duration: 23 hours)
Electrical Fundamentals
The Electrical Fundamentals course offers learners a general understanding of the key elements, concepts and terminology used around electrical components in a telecommunication network. (estimated duration: 12 hours)
Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON)
The Ethernet passive optical network or EPON course provides essential knowledge of using an Ethernet passive architecture to deliver a fiber to the home or fiber to the x (FTTH/FTTx) system, along with cable services such as video, voice and data. (estimated duration: 6 hours)
Mobility Essentials
Learners will gain an understanding of the characteristics of mobile networks from both a business and a technical perspective. (estimated duration: 24 hours)
Understanding Internet of Things
The Introduction to Internet of things (IoT) course is a self-paced, 20-hour program. The course provides an overview of the concepts and challenges of the transformational digital economy when people, process, data and things connect. (estimated duration: 20 hours)
Fundamental
These courses will explain the foundational principles, knowledge, and application of business technology and their importance. The courses in this section will assist technicians in learning about several aspects of fundamental telecommunications subjects.
Broadband Fiber Installation (BFI)
This interactive course is designed to provide learners with the benefits of working with fiber to the premises (FTTP)/FTTx networks to service cable customers. Learners will be able describe the types of passive optical networks (PON) used by cable operators and differentiate these networks from an HFC and Fiber Deep access network. (estimated duration: 16 hours)

Business Class Services Fundamentals
The Business Class Services Fundamentals course provides a broadband technician with the fundamental knowledge need to perform a business class service installation, including high-speed data services, video services, and telephony. (estimated duration: 24 hours)

CCNA1v7: Introduction To Networks

Advanced
These courses explain the advanced principles of business technology and their importance. The advanced courses are recommended for in-field technicians that have a fundamental knowledge of the business network.
Learners are advised to complete the foundational courses or are knowledgeable in areas such as but not limited to Business Class Services Fundamentals, CCNA1: Introduction to Networks, and Understanding Cable Wide Area Networks.
Network Specialist (CompTIA® Network+ N10-008)
The SCTE Network Specialist (CompTIA Network+ N10-008) online course builds on foundational user-level knowledge, along with providing success with implementation, understanding of the industry standards, and grasp of core technologies needed to respond to the home networking and business market. (estimated duration: 48 hours)
Ethernet Transport Essentials
The Ethernet Transport Essentials course gives technicians the working knowledge of Ethernet networks and standards. Learners will immerse themselves in layer two transport topics like pseudo-wires, ethernet security/Mac-sec, and power over ethernet. (estimated duration: 2 hours)

Advanced Wireless - (CWNA)
The Advanced Wireless - Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA®) course provides advanced knowledge of RF behavior, modulation, signal loss, operating channels and describes the features and functions of wireless local area network (WLAN) components. (estimated duration: 48 hours)

CCNA2v7: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials

The purpose of this course is to provide the skills, knowledge, and abilities in the field of network security. Learners in this course are exposed to the foundational knowledge required to respond to network security threats through various threat mitigation measures. (estimated duration: 70 hours)
Expert
The courses in this section are intended to provide veteran in-field service employees with more advanced techniques and skills regarding business class services, along with the theories associated with them. The expert-level courses are recommended for business class technicians who have a comprehensive knowledge of the business network. These courses explain the expert principles of business technology and their importance.
Learners are advised to complete foundational and advanced coursework such as but not limited to Advanced Wireless, CCNA3: Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation, and Cybersecurity Essentials.
Linux Essentials (Linux Professional Institute)
The course provides the fundamentals of the Linux operating system and the command line. It provides a “starting place” for learning the Linux operating system. (estimated duration: 70 hours)
PCAP - Programming Essentials in Python
In the course you will learn to design, write, debug, and run programs encoded in the Python language using an integrated Sandbox for hands-on. (estimated duration: 75 hours)
